It’s hard to believe the first half term is already over — and what a busy and exciting few weeks it has been! Our classes have been full of energy, creativity, and curiosity as we’ve explored new topics, taken part in national events, and enjoyed lots of hands-on learning experiences.
One of our highlights was our visit to Tramore Library, where we met Sarah, Loretta, and the rest of the wonderful team. The children learned all about how the library works and the many ways they can access books — from borrowing their favourites to exploring the eBook collection. We even had a few new library members sign up on the day!
During Maths Week, we put our problem-solving skills to the test with the IZAK 9 cubes, working together in groups to tackle fun mathematical challenges. The children also took part in quizzes and webinars alongside pupils from all across Ireland — it was a fantastic celebration of Maths in action!
We also showed off our skipping skills during our Skip-a-thon, raising money for a great cause.
In the classroom, the children have impressed us with their writing. They have written thoughtful book reviews and imaginative traditional Irish fairy tales, showing great creativity and flair. Working in groups, they also researched and presented fascinating projects on the counties of Ireland, sharing fun facts and colourful displays with the class.
We’ve also been busy budding scientists this term! The children learned all about how our lungs work and carried out some fascinating experiments to investigate how exercise affects our breathing. They measured how many breaths we take after different activities and even discovered who in the class has the largest lung capacity! It was a fantastic mix of science and fun — with plenty of laughter (and deep breaths!) along the way.
To finish the half term in style, we enjoyed a fantastic Halloween Dress-Up Day — with plenty of spooky costumes, laughter, and excitement to mark the end of a brilliant few weeks.
